Why Vacuum Package?
Exposure to air is called oxidation and causes fresh foods to spoil, cause freezer burn, mould, stale foods and rancid fats and oils. Our food vacuum sealers remove air and seal in the flavour and quality.
How can you save money?
By vacuum packaging your foods last longer, so you throw away less. You can buy lower-priced bulk quantities and re-package at home into smaller portions exactly the size you want. Leftovers will stay fresh in the freezer for several months.
We recommend buying from farmers’ markets for fresh produce, and also those tasty home-made jams, pickles and dried goods, or check with your local supermarket for when they reduce fresh foods, and if you try to buy locally you’ll save on transportation costs.
How do you save time?
You’ll make fewer trips to the grocery store because foods will last longer under vacuum seal. Why not cook several portions when you have time and vacuum package them into single servings in a bag. You can also marinate meat and fish in minutes instead of hours.
What guarantee do you offer should anything go wrong?
Munro Direct will provide a warranty to the purchaser for a period of 5 years on all our vacuum sealer machines from date of purchase. Register your warranty here.
Where can you get replacement parts?
We supply replacement gaskets for both the Unika by Munro and Maxima 2 commercial vacuum packaging machines. You can purchase replacements if broken, or submit a warranty claim, if the machine is faulty.

If your machine does not seal properly, here’s what to do.
Are you trying to vacuum moist items, for example frozen meat or fish? Try to put the meat or fish in a bag, then take a paper town and fold it in half. Place the folded paper towel in the bag in between the item and the point of the bag that will be sealed.
Place the open end of the bag in the vacuum channel, close the lid and start the vacuum packing process. The paper towel traps excess liquid and does not affect the taste of food.
If the unit seals properly, you should be able to vacuum pack and seal bags. You can also slightly pre-freeze meat or fish for 15-30 minutes to eliminate some of the juices.
While examining the equipment, check the seal for any cracks, dents or food particles. Clean the seal by wiping it with a sponge or soft cloth. A clean seal guarantees perfect sealing.
Vacuum Bags FAQs
The vacuum seal broke and now air has re-entered, what do I do?
First examine the seal of the bag. Any wrinkles along the seal may cause leakage and allow air to enter. Simply cut the bag and reseal. Sometimes moisture or food material (such as juices, grease, crumbs, powders) along the seal prevents the bag from sealing properly. To prevent this we recommend inserting a paper towel, similar to covering sharp edges, a paper towel absorbs moisture near the seal.
Use a new bag if there is a puncture hole. If you experience any fermentation or detect the release of natural gases from inside the bag, your food may have begun to spoil and should be discarded immediately.
Which side of the bag should be placed on the seal bar?
Place the bag ribbed side down. If the bag is curling (the end of the roll may do this), place the curled side down over the seal bar and the bag can be used either side up.
Can vacuum bags be re-sealed?
Yes, simply cut along the existing seal, remove as much food as you need, then re-vacuum package. Be sure to wipe off any food or grease residue inside the bag near the seal area. You can also re-seal Munro Bags after you have washed them.
Can vacuum bags be washed and reused?
Yes, but it does depend on the previous contents. Bags that previously contained dry goods, bread, fruits, vegetables or desserts can easily be washed and reused. However bags that contained fish, eggs, raw meats or unpasteurised cheeses should be discarded as they may contain invisible bacteria.
Munro vacuum bags can be washed by hand, or in the top rack of your dishwasher. I use a wooden clothes peg to hold the bags securely in place. Dry out completely before reusing.
Can vacuum bags be put in the microwave?
Yes, you can heat cooked foods in our Italian-made Munro vacuum sealer bags but you should never use them to cook raw foods. When microwaving, cut a corner of the bag before putting it in the microwave so steam can escape.
We recommend you avoid microwaving foods containing a lot of oil, as oil will get hot very quickly and could cause the sides of the bag to stick together.
Can vacuum bags be used in the freezer?
Yes, our Italian made Munro bags and rolls are ideal for the freezer because they will keep all air and moisture out, preventing food from getting freezer burn and becoming dry and tasteless.
Are Munro vacuum bags safe?
Our range of vacuum packing rolls and bags are imported direct from Italy. Our bags and rolls are significantly different from other vacuum packing products available because our range are microwavable, freezer safe and are perfectly ok to boil-in-the-bag to 100 degrees.
Our bags and rolls are BPA free for maximum safety and hygiene.
